About Steve
Steve, 55, is a former banker who, since 2003, has been Executive Director of Williamson Medical Center Foundation, Inc. WMCF is a 501C-3 corporation established to raise private funds to support the health care mission of Williamson Medical Center, our community hospital here in Williamson County. Steve has a BS Degree in Banking and Finance and an MBA from Mississippi State University. Steve and his wife, Diane, a long time elementary school teacher here in Williamson County, have three children who went to local public schools and live and work here in Franklin. They attend Franklin First United Methodist Church. The Smiths have lived in Franklin, in the 12th District, since 1987, first in Maplewood Subdivision and now in The Preserve at Forrest Crossing.
Steve’s interest has always been and will continue to be serving our community. He served as Maplewood HOA President, a member of the Franklin Municipal Planning Commission and for twelve years as Alderman At Large for the City of Franklin. In 2005 Steve was appointed to fill an unexpired term on the Williamson County Commission as 12th District Commissioner and was elected to that post in the fall of 2006. On the Commission, he has served on the Parks and Recreation Committee, the Law Enforcement Committee, the Budget Committee and the Human Resources Committee.
Steve currently serves on the Parks, Public Health and is Chair of the Education Committee. As Chair of the Education Committee, he has a good relationship with new Director of Schools, Dr. Mike Looney and has a special interest in Centennial High School, where his children attended and where many of our kids in the 12th District attend.
Steve has been very active in the community with the following organizations:
